Sources

  1. Thomas' date of birth is recorded as "22th of first mo. 1649." Prior to 1752 in England and in the Colonies, dates were using the Julian calendar, in which the year began on March 25. That means that "1st month" referred to March, so "11th month" referred to January. So this date is most like the 22nd day of March, not the 22nd day of January. Also, the year would have changed from 1649 to 1650 on March 25, so Thomas, Jr. would have been 3 days old on "25th of the first month, 1650." Confusing, right?
