Sources

  1. Sarah's date of birth is recorded as "1 of 11 mo. 1647." Prior to 1752 in England and in the Colonies, dates were using the Julian calendar, in which the year began on March 25. That means that "1st month" referred to March, so "11th month" referred to January. So this date is most like the 1st day of January, not the 1st day of November. Also, the year would have changed from 1647 to 1648 on March 25, so the day after "24th of 1st month, 1647" (March 24, 1647) was "25th of 1st month, 1648" (March 25, 1648). Confusing, right?
