Biography

George Hemken was born on 06 Oct 1875 in Fosterburg, Madison Co., Illinois as the second child of Egge Jansen Hemken Hemken-17 and Emma Anna Maria Elizabeth Strohkirch Strohkirch-2. He had five siblings, namely: Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hemken-16, Anna, Henry, Chris, and William. When he was 31, he married Mary Alice Kitchen Kitchen-752, daughter of Fred Kitchen and Mary Ann Relson, on 24 Apr 1907 in Hillsboro, Montgomery Co., Illinois. George and Mary Alice had the following children: Elsie Marie, Charles Leslie, Opal Mary, Vaughnie Louise, Mervin Lee and William Maynard Hemken.

George was not located in the census in 1880 or 1900. He lived in Walshville, Montgomery, Illinois in 1910 (Marital Status: Married; Relation to Head of House: Head).
