From 1786 through 1794, the family of Stephen Goodrich Jr. shared the home of father-in-law Joseph Bidwell, who had bought in 1786 the 25 acre north tract of the 50 acre homestead of Captain Stephen Goodrich; including the house. [4] Stephen sold his 25 acres to Jonathan Bidwell; an uncle of Lois, [5] in early 1795; [6] the year Stephen and his family rejoined the rest of his family in Middlebury, Vermont and Stephen bought two land tracts in Middlebury from his brother William Goodrich, [7] followed by the birth of daughter Anna Goodrich; their first child born in Middlebury.

Stephen and Lois remained in Middlebury until they sold their properties there by early 1811, [8] soon after the death of his mother Dorothy there that year, [9] and moved to Locke, Cayuga, New York, [10] where in 1819 they joined First Congregational Church of Locke [11] and bought land on the western border of section 46. [12]
Elsewhere in Cayuga County, the family of Ebenezer King and Jerusha Hathaway; parents of future husband Thomas King, moved in 1807 to Scipio, [13] where brother-in-law Samuel Greenleaf bought (deed not found) and sold on 10 Oct 1811 a 68 acre tract of land in section 73 of Scipio. [14]

The deed of sale on 10 Oct 1811 was almost exactly a year before Private Samuel Greenleaf was taken prisoner at the Battle of Queenston Heights on 13 Oct 1812 during the War of 1812. [15] Samuel Greenleaf died from disease contracted during his POW confinement at Fort George from 13 Oct 1812 to 20 Nov 1812 in the aftermath of the Battle of Queenston Heights (photo attachment), and died before 08 May 1813. Widow Sarah (King) Greenleaf and the younger children moved in 1813 to Locke, Cayuga, New York, where her brother Ebenezer King had bought a farm in section 33 in 1811. [17] In 1819, Harvey Greenleaf bought 70 acres in section 32 on the west side of the Ebenezer King farm (Palmer-King-Greenleaf-Goodrich Lands Map); [18] his sister Betsey Greenleaf married in ~1816 Josiah Goodrich; an older brother of Anna Goodrich.
Anna married Thomas King, son of Ebenezer King and Jerusha Hathaway, ~1816 in Locke, where they both lived. Thomas and Anna moved to Cuyahoga County, Ohio and settled in Orange Township in 1818. [19] Their four children; the last three born in Ohio: Julia Ann King b. 1817, Eliza Jane King b. 1821, Mary Patricia King b. 1825, and Thomas C. King b. 1829.

In the 1834 marriage approval for his daughter Julia, [20] Thomas stated her full name as Julia Ann Jerusha King, which reveals that his wife Ann was the namesake for the first middle name and his mother Jerusha was the namesake for the second middle name.

In the former Orange Township, section 32, Thomas owned 60 acres as of 1852, and 102 acres as of 1858 (the farm was located near or at the site of what is now 2800 Ohio County Road 91 in Chagrin Falls, Cuyahoga, Ohio). In 1874, Thomas; age 82, still owned 20 acres and had deeded 50 acres to Thomas C. and Mary Ann (Hitchcock) King, who had married in 1851 and in whose household Thomas and wife Anna resided in the 1870 US Census, and Thomas had deeded 30 acres to daughter Mary (King) Hill, who had married George Hill in 1843 and settled in Mayfield, Cuyahoga, Ohio; Mary and George had an eldest son named Charles Hill. In each of the US Census records from 1850-1870 in which Thomas and Anna King appeared, Anna was always listed as born ~1796-1797 in Vermont.

The death record of her husband Thomas states that he died on 09 Feb 1879 in Orange, Cuyahoga, Ohio aged 84 years, 7 months, 20 days, [22] which coincides with date of birth 20 Jun 1794, which has the correct date except the year should be 1792.

Thomas and Anna were buried in the Orange Hill Cemetery (which is at the current intersection of Ohio County Road 91 and Fairmount Boulevard in Hunting Valley, Cuyahoga, Ohio), which would have been an approximate half-mile wagon ride or walking distance from their farm.

Though no tombstone or other surviving burial marker for Thomas or Anna (Goodrich) King can be seen in Orange Hill Cemetery today, [23] [24] Find-a-Grave tombstone photo volunteers who have visited this cemetery indicate it is relatively small, and has many unmarked burial spaces between the tombstones that are still standing or that are otherwise visible, as seen in the inset photos in the annotated map above.
