Lois Bidwell, daughter of Joseph Bidwell and Ruth (Kelsey) Bidwell, [1] was born on 02 Mar 1764 [2] and was baptized on 04 Mar 1764 at Glastonbury First Congregational parish; [3]

Stephen and Lois settled in South Glastonbury, where in 1786 Stephen was deeded the 25 acre south tract of the homestead of his father, [5] who then moved with the rest of his family to Middlebury, Addison, Vermont. From 1786 through 1794, the family of Stephen Goodrich shared the home of her father Joseph Bidwell, who bought on the same day in 1786 the 25 acre north tract of the 50 acre homestead of Captain Stephen Goodrich; including the house. [6] Stephen sold his 25 acres to Jonathan Bidwell; an uncle of Lois, [7] in early 1795; [8]

the year Stephen and his family rejoined the rest of his family in Middlebury, Vermont and Stephen bought his first two land tracts in Middlebury from his brother William Goodrich. [9]

Stephen and Lois remained in Middlebury until they sold their properties there by early 1811, [10] soon after the death of his mother Dorothy there that year, [11] and moved their family to Locke, Cayuga, New York, [12] where in 1819 they joined the First Congregational Church of Locke [13] and purchased land on the western border of section 46. [14]

Section 46 became part of Summerhill after the Town of Locke had been subdivided into Groton, Tompkins County (south-1817); then into Locke and Summerhill, Cayuga County (north-1831). [15]
Stephen sold his land in Locke to his son-in-law Thomas Chipman in 1823; [16] the year of a quit-claim deed to Amos Goodrich of Middlebury, Vermont regarding lands there of their deceased brother William Goodrich, [17]

that connects Stephen Goodrich Jr. with his family, his former residence in Middlebury, Vermont and his final residence in Locke, New York, where he died on 25 Jul 1825 [18] and was buried in Howell Cemetery. [19]
After the death of husband Stephen, widow Lois and Thomas and Ruth (Goodrich) Chipman received a letter of dismissal dated 28 Feb 1827 from First Congregational Church of Locke to attend a new parish in East Locke that was more convenient for them. [20] Lois (Bidwell) Goodrich died 16 Jul 1832 in Locke and was buried in Howell Cemetery next to her husband Stephen. Her tombstone inscription reveals she was age 68 y 4 m 14 d at death, so her date of birth was 02 Mar 1764.[21]
