Biography

Findagrave has Charlie's birth date as 20 Apr 1859 well as his death date of 6 apr 1889. Both are on his tombstone. He is the son of King Brady and Susan Hardin.

In the 1870 Census, Charlie (11) is at home with his parents King (40) and Susan Brady (30) and siblings Moses (8), Eulalie (2), and Ella C. (1month) in Gordon Georgia. Charlie is already working as a farm laborer like his dad. [1]

In the 1880 Census, Charlie is (21) is single, at home with his parents King (51) (Census totally has the wrong name - Henry), and Susan (36), with siblings Moses (18), Mary E. [Eulalie] (10), Sarah (6), and Amos W. (2) in Precinct 4 Hood County, Texas. King is still a farmer. [2]

Charles A. married Mary A. Allgood on 23 Dec 1883 in Hood County. [3] [4]

He had property in the Fall Creek Community. Charlie was almost 30 when he died and I guess we will never know from what. He died on 6 Apr 1889. [5] [6]

Despite his short life and marriage, he and Mary had four children: Jack, Susan, Mike, and Fannie. Fannie died in infancy. Mary Allgood Brady remarried Thomas Jefferson McDaniel and raised another family with him in Liberty, Texas.

We know who his children are thanks to Judge Henry Davis. He was a judge in Granbury who used to copy legal documents like census and family records for fun. Thank goodness he did as did as many of those records did not survive. The Granbury Genealogical Society has them all (Judge Henry Davis Files) and it were not for them, we would not have a record of his children. We never knew there was a fourth child, Fannie, otherwise because she died in infancy.

Jack Brady and Susie Brady Henslee's Death Certificates list Charlie and Mary as his parents. [7] [8]
