Biography

He was born on 9 Aug 1888 in the unincorporated Fall Creek Community in Hood County, Texas near Granbury and Acton. He was the the son of Charlie Brady and Mary Allgood. His brother was Jack Brady and his sister was Susie Brady Henslee. There was another baby girl, Fannie, who died in infancy. Charlie died at age 30 and his mother remarried Thomas Jefferson McDaniels.

In the 1900 Census shows Mike 11 and Susan 14 at home with their grandparents King 70 and wife Susan 59 their son Moses 22. They are living Precinct 1 Hood County. ^[1]

Mike married Fannie Ethyl Rollins on 24 Jul 1906 in Hood County. ^[2]

The 1910 Census shows Mike at 21; Annie E18; and Fleda 2.They are living in Precinct 4 Of Hood County on Settlement Road. Mike is a farmer and rents his home. ^[3]

!917-1918 World War 1 Draft Card. He was described as medium, stout, brown eyes, and black hair. He was 28 and married with 4 children. ^[4]

The 1920 Census shows Mike 31, farmer and wife Fannie 28, Fleda 13; Eula 9; Lucile 6; Homer 4; Pauline1. They are living in J.P. 4, Hood County, Texas. ^[5]

He was a Hood County native and moved to West Texas in 1922. He farmed in Crosby County until 1932 when he moved to Lubbock. He retired from the produce business in Lubbock in 1968. He was a member of of Faith Temple Church. (obituary below)

The 1930 Census shows Mike 41, wife Fannie 37, Eula 19, Lucille 17, Homer 14, Pauline 12, Hortense 5, and Thurman 3.They are living in Precinct 2 of Crosbey Texas. ^[6]

The 1937 City Directory lists him as a trucker and lives at 303 Ave. R. in Lubbock. ^[7]

1942 World War II Draft Card. He was 53, self employed, and still married to Fannie. ^[8]

His death certificate says he passed away from Emphysema on 2 Feb 1986 at 87 years old. ^[9] His obituary lists his wife Fannie, the sons: Homer, Thurman, and Mike Jr.; 5 daughters: Mrs. Fleda Harden, Mrs. Eula Bennett, Mrs. Lucille Campbell, Mrs. Pauline Oehrlein, and Mrs. Hortense Shipley. ^[10] He is buried the City of Lubbock Cemetery. ^[11]
