Biography

Fleda was born on 7 Dec 1907 in Mineral Wells, Texas. She was the daughter of Mike Brady and Fannie Rollins.

The 1910 Census shows Mike 21, wife Annie 18, and daughter Fleda 2. They are living in Justice Precinct 4, Hood County, Texas. ^[1]

The 1920 Census shows Mike 31, farmer and wife Fannie 28, Fleda 13; Eula 9; Lucile 6; Homer 4; Pauline 1. They are living in Justice Precinct 4, Hood County, Texas. ^[2]

She married Isom H. Harden on 18 Jan 1924 in Crosby, Texas. They had no children. ^[3]

The 1930 Census shows Isom 32, wife Fleda 25, with nephew William 15. The are living in Hockley, Texas. ^[4]

The 1940 Census shows Isom 37 and wife Fleda 42. They are Living on Ave L. in Lubbock and Fleda is some kind of wage or salary worker. ^[5]

The 1950 Census shows Isom 53 and wife Fleda 43 Living in Lubbock, Texas. ^[6]

She passed away on 14 Jul 2008 in Lubbock, Texas. She was buried in the City of Lubbock Cemetery on 16 Jul 2008. ^{[7] [8]}

Her obituary read:

Fleda Mary Brady Harden went to be with the Lord on July 14, 2008, while residing at Bender Terrace in Lubbock. She had lived a long and joyous life of 100 years.

Fleda Mary Brady was born on Dec. 7, 1907, to Mike and Fannie Brady in Mineral Wells. Shortly after she was born, Fleda and her family moved to Granbury where they resided until 1923. At that time, the family moved to Crosbyton. Here, Fleda Brady married Isom Harden in Crosbyton on Jan.18, 1924. Fleda and Isom then moved to Lubbock in the 1930's where they have made their home. Fleda and Isom had no children but they raised a nephew, Buddy Harden. Isom died April 2, 1956.

Fleda Harden worked at a Lubbock cleaners for many years, and also sat with the sick at hospitals. When she retired, she took care of her mother and father until their death.

Fleda Brady Harden had a fantastic sense of humor, was always wanting to help anyway she could, and was a joy to her friends and family. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by one brother, Thurman Brady of Raleigh, N.C. Mrs. Harden is preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Fannie Brady; her husband, Isom Harden; three brothers, Homer Brady, Mike Brady Jr. and J.W. Brady; and four sisters, Eula Bennett, Pauline Oehrlein, Lucille Campbell, and Ruth Shipley.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Pastor David Savage officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
