From e-mail from ftm-news@mackiev.com:

We're really excited about our pilot program for young genealogists in elementary and middle schools. The schools receive Family Tree Maker, access to Ancestry's databases, and teacher resources – all for free. Schools range from 3rd grade to 8th grade, and can be public schools, religious schools or after-school genealogy clubs. We already have more than a dozen schools across the US, and we are looking for more schools to participate – around the world. Want to apply or nominate your school? Go to www.familytreemaker.com/education to learn more.

This sounds like it is or could be an amazing program. Application/nomination can be made by teacher, parent, student, etc.

Why couldn't this have been around when I was in middle school?  I was all into genealogy even back then!  I would have loved that.
