I had assumed, since Family Tree Maker 2019 synchs directly with Ancestry (and was once part of it), that source info would be preserved in their GEDCOM when importing into WikiTree, as it is when importing directly from an Ancestry GEDCOM into WikiTree. It doesn't seem to be- I get the generic "Profile created by..." for my additions.
I went to Family Tree Maker 2019 because it easily allows the creation of GEDCOMs of sub-branches of one's family tree, and I was advised to do that here, to import smaller groups of ancestors into WikiTree at one time. Gramps was mentioned to me as a tool to do this too, but I find it really hard to figure out, unlike Family Tree Maker 2019. I have 3600 well sourced profiles in my Ancestry tree, and was originally directly working with that GEDCOM, importing it into WikiTree. I reviewed all of the suggested matches for that file, and was able to add 1600 of my profiles, with good sources, to WikiTree. Then I fell ill, ended up in the hospital, and by the time I could get back to working at WikiTree, 62 days had passed, and my file was erased, putting me back at square one.
That's when I was advised to work with smaller GEDCOMs, and I'm trying to do that, but just discovered that my sources are now lost. If anyone else has used this route of import, and has suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks.
