What is the connection of Fannie Kendall Bancroft to George Bancroft the Historian?

Question

All I know is that Fannie Bancroft formerly (Kendall) Fanny was born on April 25 1783. She was married to James Bancroft who was born in Nelson, Cheshire, New Hampshire in 1779.

They had 9 children - Lucius Bancroft, Fannie Hazeltine born (Bancroft), George H. Bancroft, Lucy Read, William Bancroft and ?

James Bancroft's father was Captain James Bancroft who was married to Lucy Whitney Bancroft and James had a sister named Lucy Bancroft.

Lucy Bancroft was the mother to George Washington Read.

According to the William Family genealogy Captain James Bancroft was married twice, but they mention two other wives and not Lucy.

Questions:

(1.) Were there two different people named Captain James Bancroft or was he married more than twice?

(2.) What is The relationship of James Bancroft Jr.and Fannie Bancroft formerly Kendall. How are they related to George Bancroft - The historian the son of Aaron Bancroft and Lucretia Bancroft Chandler.

Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

2.  Sergeant James Bancroft, b. 27 October 1745 in Dunstable, Middlesex, Massachusetts, m. Lucy Whitney in 1771. James d. in 1832 in Rockingham, Windham, Vermont.  He is honored for serving in the American Revolution.  More info:

My Father was told by his Grandmother Elizabeth Blymer Somerby

That they were related to George Bancroft which is a fact She was married to Charles Wood Somerby who was known to be related to George Bancroft and George was his Great Great Uncle, I am not sure if it is not further back then Great Great.............................

My DNA results have connected me to family members that have surnames or Ancestors to Read, Read, Poole, Robinson, Robertson, Nichols. And there has to be a connection to the Gherardi family since I have Italian / Sardinian heritage.  The Bancroft name is everywhere so it is very difficult to sort through who are related and who just have the same name.
