ARE DEATH RECORDS ALWAYS HARDER TO FIND

I haven't been too fortunate locating death records for many of my rellies.  I can often find birth certificates and baptismal records, but not death certs. Is this most people's experience?

I tried first searching on "Find A Grave" to see if I could locate any headstone info; this technique lead to a modicum of success with one of my rellies.  I was trying to get closer to the area where they may have lived just before they passed.  It has helped me in some cases, but being that most of my ancestors hail from Scotland (Angus-shire), it's hard for me to know with certainty that the headstone found is the actual ancestor in-question.

Yes, I am afraid they are.

In many instances, Parish records were not always up todate or had been transcribed prior to 1837 for burials. Certainly that is the case in England & Wales. Scottish records may be different but as I understand some are availlable to purchase.
