Need info on Edward & Anna Schmitt

Trying to find info on Edward Schmitt b.1812 & his wife Anna b.1814

1850 New York census says they were born in France

They had a son named Edward Schmitt b.1832 in NY

I would like to know where in France they were from and who their parents were also, when they came to US.

Found out they were from Alsace.....that border between France & Germany changed more that a few times over the years!
