Help Connect Canada Project Notables for November 2023 - Military Heroes [closed]

Question

The Canada Project’s monthly connection challenge for November 2023 is open.  In honour of Remembrance Day which happens in November, we are highlighting Canadian Military Heroes who need to be connected to the Global Family Tree.  The primary focus is on the remaining unconnected Victoria Cross recipients along with some other notable heroes with Canadian connections.  Can you help by adding profiles of family members until a connection to the Global WikiTree is made?

The current tree sizes as of September 28th are shown for each profile.  Even if a connection is not made, adding even a single profile to a family is helpful and appreciated!

Frederick Hall

I have put a sizeable chunk of Research Notes on his profile, if someone wants to spruce up his bio a bit. There's a note about him having been born in India, which I have not found evidence of.

His mother currently has no parents. I found her obituary with a list of her children. Louisa and Edmund were not listed, but.

Edmund died in Chicago in 1928, and was married to Grace Unknown.

Could someone have a look around for Louisa?? I wonder if she stayed in England when the rest of the family emigrated.

Fred's sister Augusta May seems to be the only one so far who married, but she settled in South Africa with her husband, Unknown Manning. Does anyone know where to look for South African records?

I've left a Research Note on Mickey's profile. I thought I was getting somewhere with his sister Sadie, but it looks like she might have a different maiden name, so maybe the same mother and not the same father. Someone with knowledge of BC records might get somewhere with her first husband, marriage rec, or his death rec.

I found one document online naming Mickey's parents as James O'Rourke and Catherine Baker. No source for that info.

That information comes from Michael's death cert and has been around for a while.  The 1850 dates are likely estimates based on his age and shouldn't be treated as a guess.

His four grandparents might be identified, see notes on his profile. No dates of birth for his parents.

Yes.. ? I mean we can't connect him without attaching him to someone but everyone is still living. I was unable to find approx birth dates for either his mother or father.

I am also having problems because his paternal grandfather Emile Larochelle is likely still living.

Never mind, I found Emile’s obituary.

Jonathan Snyder

He is descended from a U.E. Loyalist on both his father's and mother's side. Perhaps we need to work down on this one instead of up?

Anyone for U.E. profiles?? One Ontario and one New Brunswick.

Actually, yes I do. I was having trouble working down from Adam UEL as his son Adam Jr had too many sons so I decided to work from his father upwards. It didn’t take very long to find a connection to Adam Jr.

On Minnie Mumford, I detached a parent and brother who were incorrect. I also found her correct parents and a connection.  I will add those profiles when I have a chance.

Michael O’Leary should show as connected tomorrow via his son William’s wife Mary Rose Thornton and her father.

Something is possible wrong with his stickers as I am seeing his wife’s name in them, not his name.
