The Canada Project’s monthly birthday monthly connection challenge for March 2023 is open. We are highlighting 9 Canada Project Notables, born in the month who need to be connected to the Global Family Tree.  Can you help by adding profiles of family members until a connection to the Global WikiTree is made?

The current tree sizes as of February 24th are shown for each profile.  Even if a connection is not made, adding even a single profile to a family is helpful and appreciated!

In the order of their known birthdays, the notables needing assistance are:

March 4th - Wilbur Franks - Inventor and medical researcher, Tree size start - 1   (Connected - 2-26-23)

March 7th - Alison Redford - Alberta Premier, Tree size start - 5  (Connected - 3-1-23)

Bernard Landry and Pauline Marois are already being worked on, just so people know and we don't generate conflicting activity.

I worked on the profile of Bernard Landrys' first wife by adding her parents and some of her parents' families. I will not add his second wife because she is still living.

Pauline Marois is now connected, don't know how long it  takes for this to show in the tree.

Pauline and I are now listed as 26th cousins! The connection finder at the bottom of the page should show by tomorrow.

Thanks Danielle. I'll mark Pauline as connected on the team page.

Thanks for all your work on her profile!

I did a bit of work on Ray Hnatyshyn yesterday. I’ll get back to him if no one else does.

Thank you Liza!
I am in a major rabbit hole with the ancestors of Ray Hnatyshyn. The family goes back to Bukowina, Austria. Many from that area immigrated to the prairie provinces. They all married within the community. I did find one other branch where Ray’s aunt Katy married a Chernenkoff but they are all Doukhobors from Russia. I’ll add everything that I have found so far.
Thanks for all your work on this Liza.
I found a way to connect him through the husband of his maternal first cousin. I’ll try and add all the profiles in the next day or so.
I ended up creating a tree for the family on Ancestry that now has about 190 people. I will eventually add more people to the family.

He's not connected yet, but I've added some paternal relatives to Gary Doer. If anyone wants to pick it up and look for a connection.

That's great!

We are now down to only one profile to connect, but he may prove to be a challenge!

I found this site which has a number of entries related to Jean de Brebeuf.   Will try and confirm the sources later but happy to have anyone else run with it.

https://gw.geneanet.org/ctourgis?n=de+brebeuf&oc=0&p=jean&type=tree

Georges de Brebeuf is listed as a nephew and he has this info https://es.frwiki.wiki/wiki/Georges_de_Br%C3%A9beuf

Thanks Darryl. This provides more leads than I've seen anywhere else.
I find it very interesting.   I have found a possible path to connect Jean de Brebeuf to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Beauvilliers-10 based on his nephew Gilles marrying Catherine Turgot.   It is based on this document http://racineshistoire.free.fr/LGN/PDF/Turgot.pdf.

So I have found a shorter path to connect Brebeuf-1 but I am wondering if the source information is enough.  Primarily I am using a book from 1897 titled "ARCHIVES DÉPARTEMENTALES, ANTÉRIEURES A 1790".  It has pages 408-415 talking about the family trees of Le Hardy, Brebeuf and Turgot.  Specifically on page 410 we have Jacob le Hardy son of Jacob and Marie Hardy marrying Marie Brebeuf daughter of Gilles de Brebeuf and Catherine Turgot in 1695.   I am trying to confirm that this Jacob Le Hardy is the grandson of Jacques Le Hardy, who has a WikiTree profile under the name "Jacques Le Hardey" (wrong LNAB?).    I feel close to making the connection but I'm always interested in others input.

Thank you for your efforts Darryl. Regarding your points, have you reached out to the France Project on G2G? You can also review this Ancestry tree to see if there are any sources (or a path you haven't tried where there may be sources) that may help to make a connection - Ancestry tree that includes Brébeuf.
