The Canada Project’s monthly birthday monthly connection challenge for June 2023 is open. We are highlighting 10 Canada Project Notables who need to be connected to the Global Family Tree. Can you help by adding profiles of family members until a connection to the Global WikiTree is made?

The current tree sizes as of May 23rd are shown for each profile. Even if a connection is not made, adding even a single profile to a family is helpful and appreciated!

I know I'm related to Denys Arcand. I can see the same surnames on his tree in mine, it's just the connection has not been made yet. I added a few profiles today.

Hopefully you can find Denys' connection to you!
5/29/2023 @ 08:30 AM = CONNECTED!

Sloop-293 was the key profile that connected me Stutz-25 to Denys Arcand Arcand-426.

I thought the connection was going to be made much earlier in Quebec, but all it took was one person that moved to Fall River, MA. and boom - connected on the next generation with the marriage to Alice Sloop.
Excellent work!

Jean Charest is in progress, anybody with knowledge of Irish immigrants coming in the 1830s or thereafter, his maternal line leads to lots of those.  Possibly gone through Grosse Isle.

Jean Charest is now connected, continuing with him tomorrow.
Outstanding!  Thank you.

Guy Lombardo - now connected via his uncle Louis' wife's family.

That’s great news. I had been working on that tree too.
That is great news indeed!
sheer luck - the uncle's wife's  brother already existed, but without parents, and he was the first one I added.

I have been working on the tree of Guy Lombardo. His direct ancestors quickly go back to Italy but his wife’s ancestors are in the US. I have no experience with Italian records but I will keep looking for a connection on other branches.

Arthur Lismer will be connected through his son-in-law once Philip Newell Bridges (1915-2007) is connected to his parents Calvin Blackman Bridges (1889-1938) and Gertrude (Ives) Bridges. Unfortunately these profiles are green and the PM has not been active for over a year.
by Liza Gervais G2G6 Pilot (394k points)
I am working on the connection of Phillip to his parents.

Andrew Furey - father George J Furey - grandfather listed as George C Furey but wife’s obituary gives his name as Leo, or did she remarry? I can find a Leo Furey in 1921 and 1935 census for Newfoundland but no George C Furey.
by Liza Gervais G2G6 Pilot (394k points)
Thanks Liza.  I sent to you a draft of what I was working on before the challenge started in hope that something is there might help. After reviewing the records, Leo C. Furey appears correct.
Andrew Furey should show as connected tomorrow. His great aunt Angela Furey Doyle (sister of Leo) already had a connected profile on WT so it was just a matter of connecting them.
Thanks for following through and making the connection!

I have an in-law connection to the Belzberg family. They were at one time reputed to be the second richest family in Canada.

A little surprised not to see Nina Cameron Graham, 1891 - 1974, in this list. She was was the first female in Great Britain’s history to be awarded with a degree from a British university. She returned to Winnipeg to work as a qualified engineer.

by David Walley G2G5 (5.0k points)
Having discovered Nina’s birthday was in March explains why she doesn’t appear on this list of Canadian notables with June birthdays!!

Mea Culpa

If anyone has suggestions for other profiles that should be managed by the Canada Project, please enter the suggestions on the form at: Canadian Managed Profiles Suggestions Form
