1774 Nova Scotia Jean Christoph Boutellier of Jean Geo: Who's his daddy? [closed]

Question

Jean Christoph Boutellier or Boutilier, was born 20 March 1774 according to Lunenburg County Genweb, to Jean Nicholas Boutilier and Anna Judith Mettin. However, his marriage document says he is "Jean Christoph of Jean Geo". Does that suggest that his father was Jean George Boutellier? Or is it possible that this notation means that Jean Geo was Jean Christoph's grandfather? Both are plausible because the Jean Christoph's grandfather Jean George had a son called Jean George. I think the Grandfather came from France to Nova Scotia and got a land grant, so maybe the designation "of Jean Geo" refers to his grandfather, not his father. Does this make sense?

My instinct would be to say there are either:

* two first cousins, both Jean Christoph. One born to Jean Nicholas, the other other Jean George. In this case, the annotation in the marriage helps distinguish them
* the marriage annotation has a mistake, and it was meant to say Jean Nicholas.  

Both are plausible to me, but the alternative, that it's referring to the grandfather seems less likely. Based on what I've seen in these records, they always mean the actual father.

Thanks Brad for your thoughts on this. The document has a mark, in effect a signature, for both Jean Christoph and Jean Geo., which would suggest a little more rigour of the identity of both. Curiously, no mark for the wife! Furthermore, the marriage was accompanied by a payment of 100 pounds to the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia in exchange for permission for the marriage to take place. Not sure if that adds any more to the interpretation.
