Hi Suellen, all you have to do is click "Edit" on the top bar of the profile and delete what you erroneously submitted.  But don't delete someone else's entry; simply contact them or the Profile Manager (PM) with your correct source for the information.

I hope this helps.

I keep getting a msg that you are editing so can't do anything right now.  I don't see a delete option.  This is my first day on WikiTree & I thought I had the right person as grandmother but ended up with a new entry.  That was not my intention, of course.

Suellen, you can't delete a profile. If the profile has bad data, you can change the bad information from the Edit tab.

Some data fields also have hyperlinks that allow a profile manager to make changes directly from the display screen, but not all data fields have that. If you want to revise the Last Name at Birth, you need to open the Edit tab, and click the tiny [edit] hyperlink to the right of the Last Name at Birth.

You cannot delete a profile. What is wrong with the profile. Looks like a duplicate. If so, please merge it with the older profile:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Shaver-465

Scroll to the bottom of the profile and look for Initiate a merge.

Come back here to the forum if you have any questions.

I tried to merge but that didn't work either.

I've added some sources to this profile for you.

Hope you don't mind the help! laugh

That's fine.  Did you realize some of the sources you listed were actually mine?  In particular, Find-a-grave.

Suellen, not to worry.  Everyone starts out at some point.  We all need help and this is where you can get it.

Here is a link to merging of profiles.   https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Merging

I would suggest leaving it for the other Profile Manager (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Freed-156 DanelleFreed, to complete; she seems to have a bit more experience.

Remember, we're all here for each other.  Just reach out for help.

There are no errors that can't be corrected.  Have fun Suellen!

It appears merges don't show up right away.  I'm waiting to see what happens before adding anything else.

I still thought I added Katie's info the same as some others.  Those came out fine, but this one just got out of hand.

Katie was my grandmother but she died 8 yrs before I was born.  I haven't even tried to enter Pop-pop's 2nd wife and lots of other family members.  My Dad's siblings are currently showing as [half] so I'm hoping that is fixed in the merge.

I thought this would be easier than all the mis-info I found on FamilySearch w/ multiple duplicates.  Now, I'm not so sure.  But I don't give up that easily.
Hang in there, it will get easier!

So, I found the list of what I did the other day & it appears that when I tried to add paternal grandmother's info & found a duplicate & clicked on said duplicate, it entered a new person instead.  Same thing happened again with paternal grandfather.  When I added maternal grandparents, they were new & no problem exists.  What am I missing about entering when one already exists?  There's a box to left of names & a "select as ..." option to right.  Should I click on both or just one & if one, which?
