Trying to connect any sources for Lydia "Liddy" Shaffer or Shaver-1799 (see the profile).  She married Martin Smith, they lived in Defiance County OH, and she died there 17 July 1863.   She was born in Virginia .  Possible parents are Jacob Shaffer b:1728 Germany d: 8 May 1815 Shenandoah, VA and Otilla Schmid/Schmidt..... according to some trees ??? But, I need more to go on.   Find-a Grave for Otilla says they had more daughters that are not listed which was in her obit.  Anybody have anything to prove Lydia was one, or other parents for Lydia ?  Thank YOU!!

Thank you Marion ... yes I have the record from 1850 census and that is the correct record for her.   However, I still cannot connect a record for her parents in Virginia, that is what I am trying to prove that Johann Jacob and Otilla were the parents ?  Thanks for the record though.
Marion:  I don't think my Lydia was ever married to a John Gardner, as far as I know just Martin Smith.  Thanks for digging though !!
No , John Gardner was just living at that address when the census was taken
Oh, I see Marion.... Hummmm well that could be a clue for a maiden name or relative ?   Thanks !   Will be digging in more records for John to see what I can see !
