“Nornie” or “Norn” in 1924 “was in her thirties” according to Esmé Stuart [Stuart-8986] when she worked as a secretary at Michaelhouse School, Balgowan where she appears to have been in November 1929 from a letter to Joe Gallwey (wife of Gallwey-4). For some time she lived at 178 Burger Street in Pietermaritzburg (e.g. in early 1940s) and, after it was sold, lived at 25 Burger Street, dsp 1969 in Durban. She was greatly loved by Mike Gallwey’s girls Rosemary and Brigid (Gallwey-17 and Gallwey-18) as she had them round at weekends from PMB convent during WWII, and by Tim Gallwey (Gallwey-5) and Andrew Towert (son of Gallwey-11) too.
