Military Service: According to Martha Harris' application for Revolutionary War Pension arising out of her husband John Harris' service, their son Enoch Harris stated that “one old man by the name of Philip Romans was likewise in s’d service used frequently to converse my Father on subjects relating to s’d war. that s’d Romans had taken from the Federal Government some five hundred dollars in the old continental money which perished or became worth nothing on his hands. He said he gave it for a wool hat which seemed to grieve the old man as long as he lived.”[3] The same Enoch Harris appears as a buyer in the Probate record for Philip Romans' Estate.

Virginia: A Phillip Roman appears on the 1782 Orange County, 1782 Virginia Census under the head of household of James Madison.[4] In the 1783 Culpeper, Virginia tithables list of Henry Hitt, Gent., it is indicated that Phillip was a working for Hitt and likely 21 years or older.[5][6] He is also listed as a taxpayer in Culpeper County between 1783 to 1787.[7] In 1790, he again listed under James Madison in Orange County for the first U. S. Census with 6 white persons in the household.[8]
Kentucky: 1810, Warren County, Kentucky, 1 male 45 and over, 1 female 45 and over, 3 males 16-25, 1 male 10 to 15, 1 female 10 to 15[1];1820, Warren County, Kentucky, 1 male over 45, 1 female over 45, 1 male 26 to 44, 1 foreigner, not naturalized, total 3 free white persons.[2]
Death and Probate: Phillip passed away about 1822 in Warren County, Kentucky. Philip Romans' Estate Inventory was completed November 9, 1822.[9] The Final Accounting of November 9, 1822 documents the sale of personal property to James Romans (Administrator), Peter Romans, Jacob Romans, Isaac Romans, Benjamin McGinneys (?), Ebenezer Cole, Enoch Harris, William Taylor, and Thomas Dial.[10]
