Janet Graham was born 22 May 1832 in Eskdalemuir, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, the daughter of William Graham and Margaret Charters^[1][2] .

In the 1841 census Jennet (age 9) was living in Yarrow, Selkirkshire, Scotland with her parents and 8 siblings^[3] .

Janet married Mathew Mathews in 1860 in Kirkhope, Selkirkshire, Scotland^[4] .

In the 1861 census Janet (age 28) was the wife of Matthew Matthews in Denholm, Cavers, Roxburghshire, Scotland^[5] .

In the 1871 census Janet (age 36) was the wife of Mathew Mathews livin in in Cavers, Roxburghshire with her husband Matthew (age 35) and 4 children^[6] .
