John was born 18 Feb 1821^[1] at Cote Farm, Eskdalemuir, Dumfriesshire, Scotland^[1], the son of William Graham^[1] and Margaret Charters^[1].

John married Christina Elliot^[2] on 10 Mar 1848^[2] at Ettrick, Selkirkshire, Scotland^[2]. They had 11 children:

• The WatcarricK Memorial Inscription gives the death date for the first Mary, who died an infant, as 12 Aug 1867, and her age at death as 6 months, resulting in a birth date around Feb 1867, but Mary's birth record gives the birth date as 24 Feb 1866.
