Johann was born on 30 Jan 1791 in Rebuck, Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Michael Reitz Sr and Maria Elisabetha (Schnock) Reitz.

He married Maria Margaretha Rebuck.

He died in Nov 1859 in Beaver Township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
