Johan Godfried Reitz was born about 12 Apr 1821 in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States, son of Johann Georg Reitz Sr (1791–1859) and Maria Margaretha (Rebuck) Sr (1793–1877).
His siblings were:
- Johann Georg Reitz Jr (1818–1896)
- Johan Jacob Reitz (1818–1909)
- Barbara Reitz (1823–1894)
Godfrey died on 19 Jul 1895 in Coolspring, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, United States, aged about 74. He was buried in Coolspring Cemetery, Coolspring, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.[1]
Godfrey married Catharine (Thomas) Reitz (born about 15 Jun 1812) on 31 Jul 1842. Their known children were:
