Biography

Childhood

Maria Haraldsdotter was born in Isberga Lillegård, Villstad parish, Jönköping county, Sweden, 2 Dec 1850.[1] She was the third of the seven children of Harald Ivar and Anna Petersdotter.[1]

Early Adulthood

Sixteen year-old Maria left her father's farm in Trehörnahult, 17 Oct 1866, bound for Svartrå parish in Hallands county.[2] At age 18, she returned to her father's farm from Svartrå parish, 7 Nov 1868.[3] At age 23, she left his farm, permanently, 14 Nov 1873, bound for someplace apparently called "Tyskland," perhaps in Germany.[4]

Emigration to United States

Maria emigrated to the United States in about 1883.[5] Maria married Julius Loose in the United States in about 1885.[6] In about July 1889, in Maryland, Maria and Julius had a daughter, their only known child, Rosa.[7] In 1900, Maria resided in Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, with her husband, Julius, and their daughter, Rosa.[8] In about 1906, Rosa married Bernhard Schwanewede.[7] In 1910, Maria and Julius lived with Rosa and her husband, and two of Rosa's daughters, in Baltimore.[9] In 1920, Rosa and her husband continued to live in Baltimore, with three daughters,[7] but where Maria and Julius lived that year, or even if they were alive, isn't known.
