Biography

Mary was born about 1707, probably in Henrico County, Virginia. She married Thomas Patteson (AKA Patterson) about 1730 in Goochland County, Virginia. [1] A 1736 deed indicates she was married by then.
Thomas and Mary owned land in Albemarle, Virginia. [2]
Thomas' will was written in Albemarle County, Virginia, dated 25 December 1745. He named his beloved wife Mary and made provisions for the unborn child she was carrying and five other children. He appointed Mary, his brother David Patteson, and Thomas Ballowe, Gent. as his executors. His will was witnessed by Thomas Ballow, Jr. among others. His inventory was reported to the Court 14 May 1747. Mary's son Leonard Patteson was named as a grandson in the will of Susanna Ballow, widow of Leonard Ballow, confirming them as Mary's parents.

Ballou-2 and Ballow-63 appear to represent the same person because: Hello, these two appear to be the same person. I'm not sure what the desired spelling for the surname should be. Both were married to Thomas Patteson and moved to what became Buckingham County (still Albemarle when he passed away and she with the other executors sold land in 1749).

Mary appears to have been "next" generation. Thomas Ballow has not been identified as father or father-in-law in any of the documentation found...and then there is the deed from one of the Thomas' naming her cousin in 1736. This "could" have been the terminology for niece but I think that verbiage seems to have fallen out of favor in the 1720's. I went ahead and gave her a birth year revision because it puts her on the radar.

Patterson-3657 and Ballow-63 appear to represent the same person because: Please take a close look at these two. "Patterson" had nothing but a DOB, a husband and a daughter with a source. That was enough to discover that her last name was actually Ballow and her husband was a Patteson, not a Patterson. Please merge and keep the Ballow name.

Mary's last name at birth should be changed to Ballow.
