Biography
Jane Patterson was born in 1820 in Ireland, the place not yet known. She migrated to Canada and she married John Evans about 1845.
Her death certificate in Ontario, 1911, shows her name as Jane Evans, widow. It says she was born in Ireland and her father was John Edgar! But where, then, did the Patterson name come from? All other known records show her surname was Patterson. Unless maybe the 1911 death certificate was a different person, also named Jane Evans? Or maybe her father's name was John Edgar Patterson? Unknown... the records can be misleading and confusing.
