Biography

I was born and raised in Kentucky but have lived and worked in several states. Home is wherever my husband and I happen to be, and we've enjoyed living in Ohio, Virginia, Louisiana and now Arizona. I've been interested in genealogy for years and am currently researching my family tree to write a family history book. I have a cousin who focuses on documenting the actual family tree and my focus is unearthing the stories of their lives in context with the times in which they lived.

My current focus is my Huff line. I have documented that line to Leonard Huff who lived in Wilkes County, North Carolina in the late 1700s and was living in Knox County, Kentucky by 1808, along with a William Huff - their relationship not determined. In North Carolina these Huff men were associated with Jesse Bolin and his wife Mary Pennington. Leonard married their daughter Hannah.

Hi M.,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

I am not trying to create a new profile, but I do have a reliable for an ancestor -source dated Nov 1657. My challenge now is pouring over the information on source citations and trying to recall everything I learned about footnotes from high school. Daunting. I want to do this right but the education in advance of doing much on this site will take some time.
