My great-grandfather was the kindest person I knew. He told me when I was sixteen (16) and my pretty mother, that we were blessed; that beauty is a gift from God. That really humbled me for him to notice me. There were so many cousins and aunts and uncles at the reunions, I figured I was just a speck in the wind.
He was also called by the grown-ups, "Popa." Now, I call him 'Popa' when I talk to Mother about him. There were so many grandfathers, at least one of them had a defining name, so in conversation, he could be distinguished.
