The 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry was a three-years' infantry regiment from northeastern Ohio that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
On 22 Jul 1862, the 11th Military District Committee met in Cleveland and decided the quotas of men from three counties, Cuyahoga, Lorain and Medina. The 103rd OVI was organized at Cleveland, Ohio in August 1862 under command of Colonel John S. Casement, who was unanimously chosen by the committee. 1,105 officers and soldiers were present at Camp Cleveland on 1 Sep 1862.
It participated in many of the campaigns and battles of the Army of the Ohio in the Western Theater.
Regiment lost during service 2 Officers and 137 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 3 Officers and 106 Enlisted men by disease. Total 248.
In 1866, members of the 103rd formed the OVI Association and began holding reunions for them and their families. In 1907, they established the not-for-profit 103rd O.V.I. Memorial Foundation and purchased land in Sheffield Lake, Ohio. The property is now the home for the reunions and a museum.
