Biography

Jesse was born in 1842 in Bedford, Ohio. Jesse enlisted for Civil War army service in Company A, 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, August 12, 1862, in Cleveland, Ohio. Jesse served as a Private. He wrote a chapter in the "Personal Reminiscences and Experiences" that the 103rd OVI Memorial Foundation published in 1900. His chapter was titled, "On Detail" and it described his duties from the Siege of Knoxville in the fall of 1864 to returning home to Cleveland in June of 1865.^[1] Jesse was a farmer by trade and married Louise Ida H. Gross in 1871. He passed away in 1917.
