Communication Preferences: I am interested in communicating private message with cousins and anyone else with an interest in genealogy. Here is my family tree.
I prefer to be called Flo. Usually I'm about a month behind with emails, so don't worry, if you don't get an instant reply. If you want to give something back for receiving help, feel free to pick an entry from my emigrant backlog or my noteworthy backlog, but be advised that some of them might contain pontential rabbit holes.

Unless otherwise noted, profiles created (or extended) by me usually are about people of Roman Catholic faith.

Biography

In spring 2008 his grandma showed him some paintings by the Swiss painter Frank Buchser and told him that this person was his great great great grandfather. He was keen to understand this and asked her more about his ancestors and relatives and took notes. He put the information he collected into his own DokuWiki. There he wrote people articles about them like he had done in German Wikipedia for years.

For almost ten years he didn't spend too much time with this until he researched something for a Wikipedia article at FamilySearch and learned that they suddenly required registration. He registered, but didn't find what he was looking for. The website asked if he wanted to start his family tree. He had time, so he entered a bit from the data he collected from grandma combined with some sheets his former boss (an amateur genealogist for decades) had given to him. Suddenly the website started suggesting additional data and he started linking, adding and merging people. When he learned that all of this goes into one big world tree, he perceived it like Wikipedia and started a new hobby that would soon complete devour the old one.

Another two years later he gave another try to this other website called WikiTree, that he soon perceived a lot cooler than the FamilySearch family tree, because people seemed to care more for sources and one was able to write "real" articles like back then in Wikipedia. Since than he's basically sitting in front of the pc waiting to be picked up by his family …

Hey Flo!

Saw you're the creator of the Category Management module in WBE, so figured I'd reach out.

I have all of the options turned on for it, but I'm unable to get the (Add) links on either the Partial or Individual cemetery reports. I've linked two example ones in the previous sentence for ease of access.

Can you tell if something's changed that broke the feature, or if I need to wait for the report to re-generate next week, or something else?

Hi Jeff,

that's a nice one: You have to change the URL from wikitree.sdms.si to plus.wiktree.com to make it work. We should probably fix this in WBE.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Hi Flo, Mine already goes to the plus url but it has not worked since Sunday... before that all was fine except when updating. I've seen where it's not working for other now either. I'm on a Mac with Chrome/Firefox. Thanks!

Hi Patty, let's see. Do you have a sample URL?

Do you want a pic? When it's working there are more sections displayed with the add links included...

https://plus.wikitree.com/function/WTCemetery/Cemetery.htm?cemetery=Lewis-Clark_Memorial_Gardens%2C_Lewiston%2C_Idaho (This one should show 6 add links to do but you can't cause of privacy.)

As opposed to Jeff's examples, yours don't have tables where the first column says "Category:" and the second says "No Category". Only in those tables WBE adds add links. Did I miss something?

Here's a cemetery that Jeff was just able to add to but for me it looks like this... missing many of the sections

https://plus.wikitree.com/function/WTCemetery/Cemetery.htm?cemetery=Saint_Gabriel_Cemetery%2C_Benton%2C_Pennsylvania

Like I wrote on Discord. That's a problem of the cemetery report itself, not of WBE.

I just submitted a pull request, that will also support the old WT+ domain.
