Joseph was baptised on 25 December 1779 at St James, Slaithwaite, Yorkshire, "Joseph of James Wood, Thorps, Slaithwaite".[1][2]
He appears in the 1841 and 1851 censuses at Bank Nook, Slaithwaite, working as a weaver. The 1851 census shows him as unmarried.[3][4]
He died in 1853 and was buried at Pole Moor Chapel, Scammonden, on 5 March 1853, Joseph Wood of Bank Nook, aged 73. The burial book notes "sister's grave".[5][6]
