Biography

Eva Viola Williams was born on 3 Dec 1904 in Alma, Marion County, Illinois, United States, daughter of Christopher Columbus Williams (1856–1919) and Mary Ann Taylor (1865–1944). Eva died on 24 Mar 1930 in Kinmundy, Marion County, Illinois, United States, aged 25 years, 3 months, 21 days.

Eva was a native of Alma, Illinois and lifelong resident of Marion County, Illinois. At age 22 (about 1926) she converted her life to Christ and on 10 Apr 1929 she became a member of the Methodist Episcopal (M. E.) Church, Alma. Leslie was a homemaker.[1]

Eva married Leslie Floyd Black (1903-1928) on 24 Dec 1921 in Marion, Illinois. Her husband Leslie died on 22 Jan 1928 (age 24). Eva and Leslie had 5 children (after Eva and Leslie's deaths, Kathryn and Ruth were raised by their maternal Uncle Loren, Evelyn was raised by her maternal Aunt Jessie (Gail), and their son was raised by his paternal grandparents):[2]

In 1910, Eva (3) was residing with her parents Columbus & Mary and her siblings, Alva, Pearl, Lottie, forest, Lena, Yada, and Loren on a farm in Foster Township, Marion County, United states that her parents owned (mortgaged).[3]

By 1920, Eva's (13) father Columbus had passed away (1919) and she was residing with her mother Mary and her siblings, Yada, and Loren on a farm in Foster Township, Marion County, United states which her mother now owned (free). [4]

At the young age of 25, Eva passed away on 24 Mar 1930. 1 week prior to her passing, Eva became suddenly and seriously ill at her mother's home (Alma).

Those left to mourn Eva are her daughters Katherine, Ruth and Evelyn and her baby son 19 months when his mother passed. She also leaves behind her mother Mary, 7 sisters, Nettie, Pearl, Louie, Gail, Lottie, Lena and Yada; 3 brothers, Alva, Forest and Loren and many friends and family.

Preceding Eva in death were her husband Leslie, son Leslie, and father Columbus.[1]

Rev. C. R. Wise officiated funeral services which were held at M. E. Church. Eva is interred in Sandy Branch Cemetery, Kinmundy, Marion County, Illinois, United States with a death date of 24 Mar 1930, aged 25 years, 3 months, 21 days.[1][5][6]

Note on FindAGrave Memorial: Eva Viola Williams Black has records from Social Security, Illinois Birth, and her obituary show she was born in 1904, it appears the stone may be incorrectly inscribed (1906) Diss-96 09:46, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
