Biography

The Baltimore Ticket #47688-29533 had been purchased by her husband Johann Treichel during December of 1908 which was shortly after his arrival in the United States for Auguste and their children Auguste, John, Gustav, Rheinhold and would be honored for the next twelve months. They had been living with her brother inlaw Ludwig Treichel in Kostopol, Volhynia, Russia. The family had to make their way out of Russia by travelling at night and picnicking during the day, for sailing from Bremen, Germany on September 2 1909 and arriving in Baltimore, Maryland on September 15 1909. After being processed by the immigration authorities they stayed at a Salvation Army Center until they boarded a train for the journey to Benton Harbor, Michigan and then going to Sodus, Michigan to join her husband. On the passenger manifest her age is recorded as 36 years and being a housewife, their last permanment residence was in Lessapol, Volhynia, Russia. She had her confirmation on April 9, 1911 at St. Matthews Church in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She was 19 years old when she married 24 year old Wm Steinke on January 30, 1915 at the St. Matthew's Church in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
