Biography

George Thornell was born in 1851 in Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire, England,^[1] son of Ann (Lock) Thornell and Henry Thornhill.

As a child, he migrated with his family to Australia with his family, arriving on the ship 'Marian Moore' in February 1853.^[2]

He married Ellen Robbins in 1880 in Victoria.^[3] Their children were:

• Henry Ernest Thornell (1880–1974)^[4]
• Francis Herbert Thornell (1885–?)^{[citation needed]}
• William George Thornell (1887–1971)^{[citation needed]}

George died in 1913 in Frankston, Victoria, aged 61 years.^[5]
