Biography

Margaret is the sister of Thomas Stoke, clerk. She was born about 1427, based on the age of her daughter Elizabeth, said to be aged 50 and more (so born in 1447 or before at the Inquisition in 1497 following Thomas' death [1]

She is named as being the wife of William Brown in the will of her brother Thomas, dated 20th January 1494. In this will Thomas directed that all his pledges, upon which his brother, William Brown, and his sister, his wife, had lent money, should be restored to the owners, on payment of the money for which they lay.[2]
