Leoluca Patti is born and baptized on 22 January 1832 in Corleone. He is the son of Giuseppe Patti and Giuseppa Maria Sciortino. His godparents are Leoluca and Giuseppa Terrusa, a married couple.[1] He is named after his paternal grandfather.
Leoluca marries Luigia Streva, daughter of Giuseppe Streva and Liboria Sanzone, on 23 October 1853.[2]
Leoluca and Luigia have at least four children: Maria Giuseppa (1854), Liboria (1857), Angela (1859), and Giuseppe (1861).
Maria Giuseppa is born and baptized 8 December 1854. Her godparents are Antonino Cutrera (who is Leoluca's first cousin) and Carmela Gaglianello, a married couple.[3]
Angela is born in January 1859 in Corleone. Her godparents are Giovanni Scalisi and Antonia di Palermo, a married couple. She marries Mariano Profita about 1881 in Corleone. [5]
Giuseppe is born 27 February 1861 in Corleone and baptized the next day. His godparents are Simone Provenzano and Carmela Provenzano, a married couple.[6] He shares his name with both of his grandfathers.
Luca has a younger first cousin of the same name who is born in 1865.
According to a deposition sent to the sub-prefect of Termini in May 1884, Luca Patti, son of Giuseppe, gabellotto of the ex-feudo Pirrello, is the primary Mafia contact in Corleone for a cattle rustling ring that extends to Mezzojuso and the port of Termini.[7]
In November 1884, Luca's son, Giuseppe, age 24 (b. 1860), marries Maria Cutrera. Third degree consanguinity is discovered and a dispensation granted for this marriage.[8]
Luca's is the first Mafia gang to be known as the Fratuzzi in Corleone. Salvatore Cutrera is his challenger and takes control of the Mafia in Corleone briefly, in 1889.[9]
In 1891, Luca's brother-in-law, Bernardo Sabella, emigrates to New Orleans. In 1900, Bernardo escorts the wife of his "brother-in-law" Andrea Oliveri to New York City. Andrea is the brother-in-law of one of Bernardo's cousins, a mafioso, and the father-in-law of Mafia boss Tommy Reina.
In 1898, Luca's first cousin of the same name emigrates to Patterson, Louisiana, where he is joined, five years later, by a brother and a brother-in-law.
In 1969, three children of Luca's niece, Giuseppa, are defendants in the Mafia trial at Bari.
