Francesco Streva is born and baptized 3 June 1832 in Corleone, the son of Giuseppe Streva and Liboria Sanzone. The record of his death gives his birthdate as 4 June.[1] His godparents are Paolo and Biagia Streva, who is unmarried.[2]
Francesco is a farm manager (agricoltore). He marries Emmanuela Grizzaffi[3] on 22 April 1855. Their parents are all still living.
Francesco and Emmanuela have at least eleven children together over the course of 25 years: two sons named Giuseppe (1856 and c. 1884), Liboria (1859), two daughters named Anna (1862 and 1864), Calogero (1867), Salvatore (1870), two sons named Rosario (1874 and 1876), and two daughters named Francesca Paola (1878 and 1881).
Liboria is born on 6 October 1859 in her parents' home in the San Giuliano quarter of Corleone. Her birth is reported by the midwife, Francesca Paola Gagliardo e De Luca, age 55. She gives Francesco's age as 25 (b. 1834).
The first daughter named Anna dies on 25 June 1864 at two years and four months of age.
The first son named Rosario dies on 10 January 1876 at a year and one month of age. The second son named Rosario dies on 16 July 1877 at six months of age.
The first daughter named Francesca Paola dies on 19 July 1879 at eleven months of age.
The second son named Giuseppe, born around 1884, is known from the record of the family's immigration in 1891.
Liboria marries Vincenzo Provenzano on 28 September 1888 in Corleone. Both their fathers are living.
The Streva family arrives in New Orleans on the Po, at the end of 1891. Francesco, 59 (b. 1832), and Emmanuela, 54 (b. 1837), and their children Anna, 27 (b. 1863), Salvatore, 21 (b. 1870), Francesca, 10 (b. 1881), and Giuseppe, 7 (b. 1884). Also traveling with them is Anna Streva, 52 (b. 1839), who is Francesco's fourth cousin, and her daughter, Vincenza Mauro, 13 (b. 1878).[5]
In the 1910 federal census of Ward 4, St. Mary, LA, taken 26 April:
Francisco Streva, 79 (b. 1831), married for 55 years (m. 1855) to Monuella, 72 (b. 1836). She has had 6 children, all living. At home is Joseph, 25 (b. 1885), single. All 3 born in Italy. Francisco emigrated in 1891. Joseph is a laborer, working out.[6]
Death of Frank
Frank dies 12 October 1919 in Patterson, LA. He is buried in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery.[1] A tombstone with his dates of life marks his resting place.[7]
Emmanuela dies at age 91 (b. 1837) on 2 July 1928 in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, LA.[8]
