Giuseppe is born 27 February 1861 in Corleone and baptized the next day. His godparents are Simone Provenzano and Carmela Provenzano, a married couple.[6] He shares his name with both of his grandfathers.
In the spring of 1884, Luca is a gabellotto and receiver of stolen cattle. His cosca is the first mafia to be known as the Fratuzzi in Corleone.
In November 1884, their son, Giuseppe, age 24 (b. 1860), marries Maria Cutrera. Third degree consanguinity is discovered and a dispensation granted for this marriage.[7]
