Biography

Mary Parrem married Frederick King on November 1st, 1794 at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Halifax, Nova Scotia.[1][2]

They had 6 known children together in Halifax County between 1796 and 1807; all were baptised at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Halifax.[3]

Research Notes

Mary's place of birth and parents are unknown. Her date of birth is also unknown; it is estimated here.

As adults, her 4 daughters all lived in Herring Cove, making it likely that the family lived there when they were young.

Mary's maiden name is spelled "Parrem" in the St. Paul's records, in her children's later Catholic Church records, it is shown as "Perrim", "Perrum" etc.

It's unclear if she's related to J. George Jeanperrin/Perrin/Perrim, who was living in Herring Cove in the 1820s. Her similar name may be a coincidence, as there are no women of the right age that are grandchildren of Jean Urbain Jeanperrin (the progenitor of that Perrin family) that aren't accounted for elsewhere.

Her date of death is unknown. The last known record for Mary was her appearing as a witness in the 1824 baptism of Mary Anne, illegitimate daughter of Frederick King and Susan Reily.[4]
