Biography

Antonio Felix Mosley was born on March 1, 1854; his birth was registered at Chorlton, Lancashire, England, in the April quarter of that year. He was a son of George Mosley and Louisa Coward Mosley.

The fact that Antonio was the first child to be born to his parents after they had lived in Lisbon, Portugal, for most of the preceding 14 or 15 years suggests that they probably returned to England from Portugal some time between early 1852 and late 1853.

Antonio is listed in the 1861 UK census data as living with his father and his siblings (after the death of his mother) at 42 Melbourne Terrace, Ardwick, Lancashire.

On May 24, 1868, Antonio is baptized at St. Saviour's, Chorlton upon Medlock, Lancashire, together with two of his other youngest siblings.

By the time of the 1871 census, Antonio is living at the home of a woman called Hannah Mosley (possibly the wife of his brother, Charles Henry Mosley), at Heaton Norton, Lancashire. He is 16 years of age and described as her "Brother-in-law".

Then, as of the 1881 census, Antonio is living at the home of his eldest sister, Sarah Ann (Mosley) Heelis, at Clarebank, Heaton, Lancashire. He lists his occupation as a "Clerk to iron merchant" in these census data.

On August 28, 1881, Antonio is married to Elizabeth Jane Over at St. John Chrysostom, Rusholme, Manchester, Lancashire; their marriage is registered at Chorlton in the July quarter of that year. Antonio lists his occupation as an "Engineer" in the marriage record. They will have three children between 1882 and 1887.

As of the UK census data for 1891, Antonio and his family are living at 4 Oliver Street, Chorlton on Medlock, Lancashire, and Antonio lists his occupation as "Portuguese merchant shipping clerk".

Antonio passed away on August 31, 1891, and his death was registered at Chorlton in the July quarter of that year. He was buried at Ardwick Cemetery in 1891, but in 1967 the graves and tombstones from this cemetery were removed to another location, not specified in the source cited.
