Biography

Percy William Mosley was born on June 30, 1887; his birth was registered at Chester, Cheshire, England, in the July quarter of that year. He was a son of Antonio Felix Mosley and Elizabeth Jane Over Mosley. Percy was baptized on August 7, 1887, at All Saints, Hoole, Cheshire.

From 1891 to 1911 we can identify Percy in the UK census data as follows:

  • In 1891 he is living with his parents and siblings at 4 Oliver Street, Chorlton on Medlock, Lancashire
  • In 1901 he is still living with his mother and siblings at 4 Oliver Street (after the death of his father)
  • In 1911 he is living with his mother at 32 Carter Terrace, Greenheys, Lancashire, and lists his occupation as an "Electrical switchgear tool fitter"

On December 27, 1915, Percy is married to Cecelia Mary Pardoe at St. John's, Longsight, Lancashire, England; their marriage is registered at Chorlton in the October quarter, and reported in the Manchester Evening News on December 29, 1915. They would have no children.

In the 1921 census data, we can find Percy living with his wife Cecelia at 54 Derwent Road, Stretford, Lancashire, when Percy lists his occupation as a "Die, fig., and tool maker".

At the time of the 1939 Register of England and Wales, at the start of World War II, Percy and his wife are living at 16 Vale Road, Altrincham, Cheshire, and Percy is basically a machine tool engineer, but he lists his occupation at great length and detail. He's proud of what he does!

By the beginning of 1946, Percy and his wife are living at 11 Merlewood Avenue, Southport, Lancashire.

Percy passed away on March 6, 1946, at The Infirmary, Southport, Lancashire, England. He was buried at St. Cuthbert's Churchyard, Southport, Lancashire.
