Biography

James Morgan^[1] was born on 22 August 1715 in New Castle County, Delaware, the first of nine children and seven sons of Morgan and Catherine Garretson Morgan.

He was christened on 22 August 1715.

He died in 1731^[2] in , New Castle County, Delaware

Alternate place of death: Bunker Hill, Spotsylvania County, Virginia (later Berkeley County, West Virginia). (It is unknown whether James died before or after the family moved from Delaware to what is now West Virginia--if after the move then he would be the first in the family to die in present-day West Virginia.)

"David said his oldest brother, James, died at the age of 16. This was just before or shortly after the family moved to what is now West Virginia from the present-day state of Delaware." If James died after the move, "then William would be the second death - at least to be recorded."^[3][4]
