Francesca Paola Mancuso is born in Prizzi on 30 January 1854 and reported the same day. The midwife, Maria Blenes?, age 38, reports the birth of a female child to Biagia Milone, a resident of Prizzi. Biagia is 35 (b. 1818). The father is Maestro Vincenzo Mancuso, age 50 (b. 1803), a tailor.[1] Her godfather is Don Giuseppe Orlando, the widower of Donna Antonina.[2]

Francesca marries Vincenzo Verro around December 1878 in Corleone. Her father has died by this time.[3]

Vincenzo is the brother of labor organizer and future mayor, Bernardino Verro, who joins the local mafia in 1893. Francesca's brother, Mariano, appears on a list of known members of the Mafia in Corleone around 1900.[4]

Notes: Confusion over last names

Monchorro (Used by Francesca's son Charles) Metrigosa (used by Francesca's daughter Lena and Lena's daughter, Marian, my mom) Trapani used by Francis Guarnier (probably erroneously) in her list of Vincenzo Verro's sibs and their spouses.

Children

Vincenzo and Francesca have six known children: Josephine (1881), Lena (1882), Charles (1884), Lillie (1886), Vincent (1887), Tony (1891),

In the 1900 federal census of New York City, taken 11 June, Vincenzo "Werro" heads a household on East 12th Street. He is 46 and has been married for twenty years to Frances, age 42, born February 1858. Their children at home are Josephine, born September 1881, age 18; Lena, age 17, born November 1882; Charles, 16, born March 1884; Lillie, 14, born February 1886; Vincent, 12, born July 1887; and Tony, born November 1891, age 8. Vincenzo, Frances, Josephine, and Lena were born in Italy, and the younger children in New York. Frances and the older daughters immigrated in 1883 and Vincenzo in 1889. He is a tailor by profession. Josephine, Lena, and Lillie are all dressmakers. Charles is a clerk. The youngest two are at school.[5]

1915 New York Census Bronx, New York. Note: Living with Vincenzo's sister Francesca and Marino Guarnier.

The 1930 census listed Vincenzo and Francesca as VIRRA instead of VERRO
