Congratulations!

This week we have your last stop on the guided tour. Hopefully, you're feeling like a WikiTree pro! If not, you can always revisit the tour stops via the comment boxes on the right side of your profile.

You've covered a lot of ground the past few weeks. Today, we want to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.

Please do not hesitate to ask questions! If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.

Thanks, WikiMesssenger Cindy

Hello

You may have been hard at work getting connected to family members who are already here and adding those who were missing. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now.

There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.

Please let one of us know if you have questions! Just ask.

You've been here for several weeks now! We hope your profiles are coming together and you've enjoyed getting to know us a little better.

You're getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now and collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

Questions?? Just ask! If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.

Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy

PS-Good work so far! Have you noticed on ancestor profiles on bottom right is "Research" where you can get sources and more information? Give it a try sometime!

Hi Kim,

It's time for your next stop on the guided tour!

This week, we'd like to show you How to Join in the Community. There's no shortage of opportunities to get involved through social media, our forum, and projects.

Be sure to check out the One Name Studies Project to see if anyone has started a project for one of the surnames in your family. Don't see one? Follow the instructions for starting your own!

Please let me know if you have questions. :-)

Hi Kim --

You've been here a week now, and we hope you enjoyed your first stop on your guided tour of WikiTree and were able to make good use of the things you learned.

Our next stop will give you some pointers on how to make your profiles stand out: How to Edit a Profile.

As always, your questions are welcome!

Shirley

Hi Back Kim,

Click here for the help pages on How to add family/ancesotrs and more.

It is best to add your family and ancestors in a organized order, like starting with your self then your parents, grand parents etc.

And I'm here to help too, just ask!

Hi Kim,

Thank you for the note and questions! Hope you have clicked on and read How to Start Climbing Our Tree. It has great information to help you getting started here at WikiTree.

I'd encourage you to do a small one for now to get going and then wait until we switch over to our new import process. It'll be a lot easier for you to move your GEDCOM then.

If you have a problem and need help you can contact the Wiki GEDCOM manager Eowyn Langholf.

Hi Kim,

Thanks for joining us! I’m David, a WikiTree Mentor. Hope you're enjoying our site.

Did you have fun learning your way around WikiTree yesterday?

I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. Do you have any questions I can answer?

Hi Kim,

I wanted to suggest that you edit your tag(s) to show any surnames you are researching. When you list a surname, location or historical event in your tags, you can then click them and see a list of other WikiTree genealogists who are also researching those names, locations, etc. A tag should only contain the surname and not the first or middle name. You can have up to a maximum of 20 tags.

You'll also get notifications in your daily & weekly emails when there is activity relevant to your tags.

Information on Tags can be found at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags This Link will auto-populate your tag page. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following

Please let me know if you have any questions! :-)

Hello Kim --

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum: “Do you have any inventors in your family tree?”

Welcome!
