Vincenzo Verro is born 5 December 1853 in Corleone and baptized the next day, named after his paternal grandfather. He is the son of Don Gioachino Verro and Donna Giuseppa Ala. His godparents are Maestro Giovanni Ala and Antonia lo Bello, a married couple.[1][2]
Vincenzo is the brother of labor organizer and future mayor, Bernardino Verro, who joins the local mafia in 1893. Francesca's brother, Mariano, appears on a list of known members of the Mafia in Corleone around 1900.[3]
Note: There is another Don Vincenzo Verro, born in 1846, the son of Don Tommaso Verro and Donna Maria Vernagallo. Although this Vincenzo has multiple children out of wedlock, he marries their mother, Maria Concetta Ragusa in 1892.
Vincenzo marries Francesca Paola Mancuso, a native of Prizzi, around December 1878 per the marriage allegati.[4]
His date of immigration is recorded by one genealogist as 24 OCT 1884. Vincenzo listed his immigration year as 1883 on the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census forms, but th e only Vincenzo Verro I've ever found on a manifeest was in Oct 1884. I could use some help here
Vincenzo and Francesca have six known children: Josephine (1881), Lena (1882), Charles (1884), Lillie (1886), Vincent (1887), Tony (1891),

Vincenzo and Francesca seem to have lied to every census taker to establish that Charles and LIllie were born in NYC.
His date of birth in December 1853 is confirmed by the 1900 US Census[5] In this federal census of New York City, taken 11 June, Vincenzo "Werro" heads a household on East 12th Street.
