Biography

Margaret or Margarette Kring was born about 1827 in Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of George Kring and Magdalene Stump. .[1]

Her husband's name was shown as Harrison Cole on the 1850 census. (Other records show his names was William Harrison Cole.) Harrison Cole was born in 1824 in Pennsylvania and in 1850 lived in Jenner, Somerset, Pennsylvania with his wife Margaret, sons Jeremiah and George W. and his brother George W. all born in Pennsylvania. On the 1850 census their entry is right above the entry for her parents:

Christenings of her children show her name to be Margaret, Marget, or Margarette. [3]

Her given name is Mary Margaret on the death certificate of her daughter, Rose Bell Cole Claycomb, [4] and her birth surname is shown as Kring. Her birth surname Cring is from the death certificate of Mary Cole Bealman, her daughter.[5]

Sometime after April 1865 when John Griffith's second wife Rachel Blough died [6]and before 2 May 1867 Margaret married John Griffith. In May 1867 she is identified in the probate records of George Kring as his daughter married to John Griffith.[7]

In the 1870 census it shows John Griffith and his then wife Margaret's family as:

In the 1880 census in Jenner, Somerset, Pennsylvania, it shows John and Margaret and his daughter Emma Griffith living with them.[9]

On 1 July 1890 Margaret Griffith, shown as widow of William H. Cole gets a pension for his Civil War service. William had served as a Teamster 2 M Dept. usv or usr (can't read the last letter for sure)[10]

Kring-167 and Kring-133 appear to represent the same person because: It is the same individual, but on 167 the death date is wrong (she appears in the 1880 census) and the husband is John O. Griffith, not Jesse as can be seen in sources.
The death date is wrong as she is shown on the 1880 census which you show as a source.
