Hinchea was born in 1718 and died before 6 Nov 1794.
Hinchia Gilliam (-1794) married Mary Johnson whose father, Moses Johnson, named daughter Mary Gilliam in his 1763 will. Mary’s sisters married John’s brothers Anselm Gilliam and Burwell Gilliam. Hinchia and Mary were the parents of 7 children whose births appear in the Albemarle Parish Register. In 1776 Hinchia Gilliam and his wife, Mary, deeded 254 acres to Thomas Tatum. Hinchia, left a will in Sussex County identifying grown children, his wife already dead (will dated 29 Jan. 1791 and proved 6 Nov. 1794). [1]

I, Hinchey Gilliam of Sussex County and State of Virginia . . .
Impremis: I give and bequeath to my son John Gilliam the following Negroes which he had in his possession to wit David Cate and Buk and Izbell, one bed and furniture in his possession to him and his heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Gilliam two Negroes to wit Jeremiah and Patty, also one woman's saddle one bed and furniture and one plank chest to her and her heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary McClenny two Negroes to wit Abigail and Jacob, also one feather bed and furniture now in her possession to her and her heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Barrow one feather bed and furniture now in her possession to her and her heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Lucy Gilliam two Negroes to wit Dinah and Judy* with their increase also one Negro boy called Joel one feather bed and furniture one woman's saddle to her and her heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Peggy Jones two Negroes to wit George and Cloe with their increase also one feather bed and furniture now in her possession, also one feather bed and furniture after my decease to her and her heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Edna Gilliam two Negroes to wit Jeremy and Selina with their increase one feather bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to my three daughters to wit Elizabeth Gilliam Lucy Gilliam and Edna Gilliam one Negro man called Jack equally between them also I give to my said three daughters all my personal estate not otherwise herein devised to be equally divided between them to them and their heirs forever.
Item: My will desire is that my three daughters Elizabeth Gilliam Lucy Gilliam and Edna Gilliam should jointly and equally enjoy and inherit all my land and plantation whereon I now live during their natural lives or single life but if either of my three daughters should marry then their right of my said lands shall descend and remain to the other two or other one of my daughters which may remain single during their or her single life.
And Lastly: I do hereby constitute and appoint David Barrow and Isham Gilliam my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament revoking all other wills by me made heretofore in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and and affixed my seal this twenty ninth day of January 1791.

At a court held for Sussex County the 6th day of November 1794
The last will and testament of Hinchey Gilliam deceased was presented into court by David Barrow one of the executors thereon named, the same was proved by the oaths of Carter Gilliam and Anselm Gilliam two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on motion of said executor who made oath thereto as the law directs.
